A kinetic identity, listening app, and web platform for a global independent-radio network built around live discovery and deep archives.

Overview / The creative premise

Pulse Radio unites identity, product design, motion, web design, and mobile development. The system makes live listening immediate, archives searchable, and every programme distinct inside one recognisable network.

01 / 13

Problem

Listeners moved between an unreliable website, third-party players, social posts, and scattered track lists. Playback broke during navigation, archives were difficult to search, and each show used a different visual language.

02 / 13

Research

Listening diaries, host interviews, and analytics showed that people chose programmes by mood, duration, host, and time of day more often than genre. Publishing research exposed repeated manual work behind every broadcast.

03 / 13

Solution

We designed and developed a persistent audio product across mobile and web, with live schedules, mood-led archive discovery, saved sessions, track information, and a metadata-driven identity system.

04 / 13

Challenges

Continuous playback across navigation, background states, weak connections, and device handoff required design and engineering to share one product model. Reduced-motion and accessible audio controls were built into the core system.

05 / 13

Feature 01

The persistent player keeps programme, host, track, timing, queue, and actions visible without interrupting exploration across the schedule and archive.

06 / 13

Feature 02

Discovery combines mood, duration, host, series, location, and time-of-day filters, matching the way listeners actually decide what to hear.

07 / 13

Feature 03

A metadata-driven visual engine generates motion covers, social assets, and programme pages for every broadcast while preserving the Pulse identity.

08 / 13

Feature 04

Cross-device continuity lets a listener move between phone, desktop, car, and connected speaker without losing the programme, queue, playback position, saved track, or listening context.

09 / 13

Feature 05

Resilient audio states cover offline listening, weak connections, background playback, reconnection, device handoff, and clear recovery while keeping the player available throughout navigation.

10 / 13

Feature 06

Accessible controls, reduced-motion modes, keyboard shortcuts, captions, contrast options, and a metadata-driven campaign engine make every programme easier to hear, navigate, publish, and promote.

Key Takeaways

Treating brand, product, and development as one process protected the idea through launch. Pulse gained a stable listening experience and an identity the internal team can operate daily.
